Frequently asked questions.

I am new to this breast milk jewelry! What is the process and how does it work?

Thank you for inquiring about a forever keepsake! Once you find the piece you like, please purchase your keepsake through our website. If you are located outside of Buffalo, NY you can send milk or other materials through the mail. Please place materials in a ziplock bag double packaged labeled with the same name listed on your order. Please include your full name, date of the order as well as the order number on the ziplock bag. It’s very easy! I will make sure to include you as the piece is being crafted. Let me know if you have any other questions! I’m happy to help. Please feel free to review my Instagram for ideas, to see what add On’s can be done or if there are any new styles that come out!

What are the instructions for sending my breast milk? How and where do I send my milk?

  1. Please place your order through my website

  2. Any questions or inquiries regarding your order, please email me at wny_keepsakes@yahoo.com

  3. Here are the instructions below.

You will need to send 1-2oz of milk per jewelry pendant or ring via USPS FIRST CLASS MAIL/ PRIORITY MAIL (if within the US) using a milk collection bottle or a double ziplock bag. Please thaw milk first before sending. If you have very little milk, I can use what you have. I do give the remainder of the preservation milk powder back for future orders as well. This will allow you to create as many pieces as possible in the future without actually having your milk resent! USPS allows sending liquids but just make sure the breast milk does not spill.

  4. Please LABEL/ DOUBLE LABEL everything. Full name as per order stated, order date as well as order number.

USPS First Class Mail will be just fine for shipping as long as it weighs less than 1oz. Do not choose to do signature confirmation to prevent delay. Please ensure that your package is trackable!

What is your turn around time?

Within the US: Please allow for 3-6 weeks for your piece to be completed, shipped, and delivered to you once I receive your materials to make your keepsake. Please allow for 8-10 weeks with any solid 10/14/18k gold materials. During the holidays, please allow for 9-10 weeks unless you purchase expedited or holiday shipping.

How do I care for and clean my jewelry? Can I shower or swim with it?

  • Do not wear your jewelry in the water or around any condensation. Do not swim, bathe, shower, use a sauna or exercise in your jewelry.  This is very important not just for the metals but because the material is organic and can mold with overexposure to water.

  • Keep your jewelry away  from direct sunlight and heat. Store in a cool, dark place like a jewelry box. It is best to keep it in an air-tight ziplock bag.

  • Do not use topical products such as lotions. Creams. Powers, essential oils or household cleaning products.

  • Take off when doing heavy chores, cleaning, gardening or at the beach as small particles can get caught in your jewelry.

  • Keep children and animals away from your  jewelry where they can pull and tug on it.

Does my Breast milk have to be fresh? Can I send it previously frozen?

No, your breast milk does not need to be fresh. Yes you can send it frozen but it is not recommended due to the uncertainty of it leaking during shipment.

Do you accept custom orders?

Yes, I accept custom orders. Please send me an email!

What is your Return/Refund Process?

If your Jewelry has been made: We want you to be happy with your keepsake for a lifetime. We offer a 1-month warranty on pieces that are completed.

If you have not sent in your materials/breast milk and your piece has not been ordered yet. You can receive a full refund up to 3 days. After 3 days, You will be refunded as store credit only towards a future product within the shop.

Do you or can you send my left over breast milk, placenta or ashes back?

I no longer return milk due to potential complications of it possibly spilling and making the package where your piece will have an odor when received. I only need 10ml of milk at the very least to create a keepsake. Please make sure to give what you can spare. I can only return unused dried materials such as hair, placenta, and umbilical cord upon request.

Can you use Ashes and Placenta instead of Breast milk? Can we add my baby’s lock of hair? Can we combine multiple materials?

YES! We certainly can. If you have a specific material in mind, please make sure to include that on the Contact Form or via Email

Are your pieces real Gold or Plated?

There are a variety of metals that are used to make different pieces. If you are looking for a specific material metal. Please specify that as well. We offer plated and solid materials 10k, 14k etc.

Is there a deadline to get milk to you after placing my order?

No, there is no deadline unless you need your jewelry on a certain date. If you do, then this will be discussed during Inquiry.

What is the difference between Gold Filled/ Rose Gold Filled and Rose Gold/Gold Stainless Steel?

Basically in appearance, gold filled looks shinnier and brighter. It hardly tarnishes. It is a more affordable alternative to solid gold.

Gold stainless steel also does not tarnish. It’s durable and lasts longer then gold filled. It’s duller and darker in appearance compared to gold filled.  Real gold is applied as a thin layer over stainless steel and is hyper allergenic.

My Jewelry is Tarnishing  and turning my hands green. What do I do?

If you have used chemicals around your jewelry or worn it in water frequently, that can happen.  This can happen to customers using either gold, rose gold or rose gold plated pieces. A suggested idea would be to coat it with clear nail polish after polished and cleaned.
